If you're a Community Manager or Social Media Manager...

you'll want to perk up here.  This is for you.  Yes, some of these are affiliate links, but most of them are just because I really love the tools (some like Canva I even pay for willingly to use #CanvaForWork - and I post about them daily!) 

Ok, so you're wondering what makes this particular juicy goodness that you're about to devour below so great?  

I know, I know - there are a million of these Online Marketing Toolkits out there.  

They may indeed have the solution to your problems, but I guarantee My Online Marketing Toolkit is complete and sort of kind of plug-and-play. The problem is not knowing how to do what you need to do as an online marketing strategist, it's trying to figure out what the best tool is for the problem.  I used to struggle with creating graphics on the fly - and trying to keep up with the sizes, and worst of all, having a great design and then having to recreate from scratch instead of just push a button to magically resize (yup, you guessed it, I'm talking about Canva again!) 

Here's another example of what I mean: I ended up at a crossroads where I had to choose whether to continue with Quickbooks for my Small Consulting Business' accounting or if I would see where my Google search landed mem and do some research to find alternatives.  I'll tell you the story another time, but long-story-short, I stumbled upon and ended up switching over to Cloud accounting made easy-peasy with Freshbooks.  Let me tell you, I am one happy customer, not only can I collect payments from chip-and-pin credit cards, I can also send invoices on the go (if you're at all like me and you actually had to wait to get to your desktop to use your accounting software to generate an invoice, you understand how much that sucks and the freedom that comes with a #PortableMindset of being able to add expenses and receipt checks and everything else needed to run your business' finances on the go).  Yes, I can't stop telling everyone how much I love Freshbooks for accounting.

Anywho, I've spent a ton of time (give or take almost 10 years) testing and tweaking the products I add to this toolkit, and like everything else talk about, this is a 'living and breathing' list - that means that I am constantly adjusting based on my current experience and you can be assured I only recommend things I love and that would benefit you and me (I like win-win).  You can get the link to my full toolkit, but these here will get you started and on the path to being that Social Savvy I know is inside of you (talking to both you guys and gals!)

I absolutely looooove Freshbooks - it totally changed my life, seriously!  I mentioned that above and no, still not going to tell you the whole story - just waaaay too long.  But what I will tell you is that it's cloud-based (which makes being portable super easy!), and it is purposely built for small business owners, it's built to support the needs of growing businesses.  On average, they claim that their customers double their revenue in their first 24 months.  And seriously, I am on track to continue to do just that - they must put some kind of juice into using it - I'm so much more organized and efficient when it comes to invoicing - it's no longer a chore, now it's a pleasure! 


Social Media Syndication | Listening ->Hootsuite

Manage and connect with more than 25 popular social networks.  Use this powerful platform to schedule out posts into the future so your channels never go quiet.  Use streams for 'listening'  to your competitors, for mentions of your brand, and the conversation around your main #Hashtags.  If you want some tips and tricks for best leveraging this platform, be sure to download this guide


Cashflow | Fundbox

Bottom line: as a Freelancer, you might have invoiced enough to cover expenses, but it inevitably takes your clients a week to see the invoice you mailed (if they find it), a week to decide to pay (at least!) and then another week or so for it to get to you plus all the other time in between for other things and by the time you get paid for the work you completed, it's been more than a month.  Enter Fundbox to solve that problem so that you can make payroll payments on time, buy new equipment and inventory, and best of all, take on new projects and additional clients.  There are other services out there that are similar, for example, Kabbage and Blue Line.


Making Stuff #VisuallyAppealing ->Canva

I loooooooooooooooove Canva and this is an example of a tool that I more than willingly pay to use their pro version called Canva for Work, (but with all my recommendations it would be nice if they'd pay me ;-)  It has saved me sooo much time and frustration and I can easily pop out a bunch of designs quickly and efficiently (that look great if I do say so myself!)


Email -> Google Apps for Work

I don't know about you, but I love Gmail.  I'm so glad I don't work in Corporate anymore and that I never have to use one of those antiquated web servers or whatever they are to send email from my domain.  I wanted the emails I sent to clients to look great and include a branded signature that included links to Flutterby's online network.  I set out to find a solution and was ecstatic when I found Google Apps for Work since I was an avid and huge fan of using Gmail for personal email.

I used a great template and voila, landing page in a few minutes (or so, depending on how complicated you want to get!) ~ this is a very important part of a complete sales funnel and easy to integrate into Wordpress (or your server!) and even as a tab on a Facebook page.


Email Marketing ->MadMimi

What can I say, but I fell in love with Mad Mimi because it's such a lovely, simple email service that lets you create, send, share, and track emails, and for a number of other technical reasons I won't go into here {I will give fair warning to do your research and figure out what you want before you choose an EMSP so that you don't have to switch - waaaay to much work in the set up to lose that return on your investment. Over 250,000 businesses use Mad Mimi to do email the simple way.  I use it for Flutterby Media's email blasts (let me know what you think when you sign up to receive our social media tips and tricks digest! click here to subscribe).  Of course, there are other awesome email service providers too, I suggest looking at MailChimp or Constant Contact - both have great social media integration, and the latter also makes event marketing easy!


Website Hosting ->Bluehost

Bluehost is a leading web solutions services provider. Based in Orem, Utah, they provide comprehensive tools to millions of users throughout the world so anyone, novice or pro, can get on the web and thrive.  Flutterbysocialmedia.com is hosted with them and I've always had awesome customer support and my site has been up 100% aside from user error (ahhhh the joys of being an entrepreneur ;-)


Website Platform ->Wordpress

Of course there are other alternatives out there for building your site on, but I started with Wordpress and don't intend to leave - I love that it's relatively easy for me to use as a non-coder.  I can make most changes meself without worrying I'll bring my site down ;-)  WordPress is web software you can use to create a beautiful website, blog, or app. We like to say that WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.  The core software is built by hundreds of community volunteers, and when you’re ready for more there are thousands of plugins and themes available to transform your site into almost anything you can imagine. Over 60 million people have chosen WordPress to power the place on the web they call “home" because it is especially search engine friendly.  This is not to say there aren't other alternatives out there, for example one of my clients uses Wix (which I didn't recommend up until recently because they didn't show up well with the search engines before -but, they've come a giant long way and offer a great product now so certainly worth checking it out - even their free version if you're on a tight budget and want to get a website up quickly - yourself!)


A Word Before You Go
